Mercury, Mars, The Moon & Pluto: “We need to talk”

ree

October 6–11, 2025

This week the universe is giving off some serious, “we need to talk,” energy. You know how it feels to get that text message, right? The dread, curiosity, and adrenaline… yeah, that’s the vibe.

The skies are loud, assertive, and, honestly, a little fed up with excuses and BS.

Mercury kicks things off by diving into Scorpio. You better be ready for a deep conversation, because with Mercury and Mars teaming up there, they’re bringing the receipts.

Then a full moon in Aries storms in to add, “I’m over it…. Next!”

And right after that? A fired-up Mercury squares Pluto, and the universe says, “Shut up and listen.”

Let’s dive in…

October 6 — Mercury Enters Scorpio: bringing the receipts

Mercury’s move from Libra to Scorpio is like switching from a polite debate club to a true crime podcast. So, if you suddenly feel like your mind has gone from weighing both sides to connecting every dot on a corkboard with red string… congratulations, you’re tuned in to the right channel.

In Libra, Mercury was guided by Venusian ideals of fairness, harmony, and using the kind of language that kept everyone smiling at the dinner table. But now, Mercury is moving into Scorpio. This is Mars’s house, and he’s not into small talk, pleasantries, or polite conversation. He wants Mercury to be insatiably curious and unfiltered.

In Scorpio, with Mars co-present, Mercury isn’t just encouraged to question; it's driven to excavate the truth at all costs. Mercury transforms from a charming conversationalist to a relentless interrogator. The kind who straps you to a chair, under a single swinging light bulb, and refuses to stop questioning until you confess.

And once Mercury has the dirt, Mars steps forward, metaphorical knife in hand, saying, “Now, what are we going to do with this?”

See, Mars won’t stop at just arming Mercury with information. Mars likes action. He’s direct, sharp, strategic (especially in the sign of Scorpio), and always ready for a fight.

With Mars and Mercury working together, think verbal assassination and psychological warfare. Conversations hit harder, secrets get weaponized, and words are chosen for how deeply they will cut.

Used well, this transit is brilliant for research, problem-solving, therapy, shadow work, and unraveling mysteries —anything that requires courage to look deeper. But the temptation to weaponize that new knowledge will be strong. Be especially careful around those you care about. Words, once spoken, can't be taken back. And wounds left by a sharp tongue don’t close easily.

October 7 — Full Moon in Aries: “I’m over it…. Next!”

The Full Moon in Aries (another Mars-ruled sign) turns the emotional tension up to full volume.

This lunation marks the peak of a story that began back on March 29th, 2025, with the Aries New Moon and partial solar eclipse. Full moons are a culmination of that cycle’s energy. And with Mars ruling both Mercury in Scorpio and this Full Moon in Aries, the energy is red-hot, focused, and in desperate need of change.

You might feel like everything’s coming to a head at once, and in a way, it is. This is the moment where the tension that’s been building all year demands resolution. Think back to late March. What was starting to shift or demanding your attention? Follow its thread to now. What pattern has been lingering like a song stuck in your head? That’s the story this full moon wants closure on.

Aries doesn’t do subtle, so this Full Moon might feel like the moment of truth. It’s spotlighting where you’ve outgrown old habits, relationships, or roles that no longer fit. Mars’s influence urges decisive, unapologetic action to make space for what’s next.

Recognize your progress. Defend your peace. And if something has clearly run its course, this is your cue to say, “I think we’re done here.”

October 7 — Mercury in Scorpio Square Stationary Pluto in Aquarius: Shut up and listen

If Mercury entering Scorpio was the start of an investigation, this is the moment when the detective realizes the suspect is a mirror.

Mercury in Scorpio, backed by Mars, is ready to expose the lies and confront the system. But when it squares off against Pluto, stationary in Aquarius, all that fiery conviction hits something immovable.

Pluto isn’t retrograde or direct right now. It’s just still. Completely still. Powering up in eerie silence.

This square between Mercury and Pluto isn’t a conversation. It’s a standoff. Mercury wants to shout, but Pluto just stares back, silent, unblinking, like a therapist who has just asked, “and where do you think all of this anger comes from?”

Pluto in Aquarius represents the need to transform collective power structures, social hierarchies, and systems we’ve built. For months, it’s been focusing inward, searching for the roots behind our need to change. But as it hovers in this still point, between retrograde and direct motion, it’s not ready to move forward. It’s shifting gears. Nothing will move forward until a deeper lesson is learned.

So here comes Mercury in Scorpio, fired up by co-present Mars, ready to go to war over the problems it has exposed. But Pluto doesn’t respond. For us, this might feel like talking to a brick wall. Being ignored or invisible. But we’re not being dismissed. Mercury just barged into a different conversation that was already in progress.

Here’s the thing… Pluto isn’t alone right now. The planet of transformation has been connected by trine and sextile to Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries (both retrograde).

These two have been whispering in Pluto’s ear for a while, trying to bring awareness of where our beliefs, motivations, subconscious patterns, and how we communicate are causing problems.

Instead of shouting, Mercury needs to sit down, shut up, and take notes.

So, if things don’t feel like they are moving, conversations go nowhere, or people seem to stop listening to you, it’s time to pause. Ask yourself, “Am I so focused on being heard that I’ve stopped listening?”

Because this square isn’t about winning an argument. It’s about awareness. When the universe tells you, “We need to talk,” that, more often than not, means, “shut up and listen.”
