Uranus Retrograde from Gemini to Taurus.

ree

Uranus, the planet of revolution, innovation, and change, is going retrograde on September 6th, 2025. And this retrograde is dancing across the Gemini and Taurus line, from 1 degree of Gemini to 27 degrees of Taurus and back.

What does that mean?

Let's dive deeper.

Uranus entered Gemini on 07/07/2025 and has only moved into the first degree in these last two months. So this retrograde doesn’t have much ground to cover in the sign of Gemini. But that doesn’t mean its time in Gemini wasn’t important. These last two months have been like a teaser of what Uranus’s stay in Gemini might bring.

Uranus is the bringer of change through innovation and revolution. Its entrance into Gemini has historically marked times of significant upheaval. I have no doubt that everyone has been feeling the stirrings of change Uranus wants to bring, but with it turning retrograde, that energy is going to be focused inward for a bit. That’s part of what retrogrades do.

Remember that retrogrades, visually (from our perspective on Earth) are like a retracing of steps. A planet going retrograde appears to move backward across the sky before stopping and moving forward once again. In reality, it is just an illusion of movement as the planets don’t actually stop and rotate backward. But the symbolism is there, and that colors our interpretation.

We have taken a step into Gemini with Uranus. We have already had a taste of what can be changed, altered, and reinvented. But before we can make change happen, we need to think about the practicalities. We get to back up a few steps during this retrograde and process. We have time to adjust and make the necessary changes within before we are asked to deal with the changes that Uranus is going to bring when it moves back into Gemini in 2026.

Did you just say back into Gemini in 2026?

Yes, this retrograde is special because it will take us out of Gemini and return us to Taurus (where Uranus has spent the last 7 years) for a few months. This is going to be very familiar ground for us to retrograde into. And with that return, we'll feel a shift in our internal thought process. We'll go from processing the changes we know are coming to more of a review on how we got to a place where change became necessary.

When a planet retraces an area of the sky through retrograde motion, we feel that energetic pull to retrace our own steps. We may be reminded of things that have happened, ways we have acted, things we neglected to do, steps we should or should not have taken, and/or people that have come in and out of our lives. All the things that have led us to where we are currently.

This is the swansong of Uranus’s time in Taurus. Over the last 7 years, it has brought a revolution to that area of our chart, and understanding what has “led us down the path” is going to be crucial to accepting the changes that are to come. And when Uranus finishes this cycle, it will say goodbye to Taurus for 84 years and begin its true stay in Gemini for the next 7 years.
