Kite in the sky, but we’re feeling stuck in the mud

Mars opposition to Saturn (rx)/ Neptune (rx) in Aries with Uranus and Pluto (rx) in the mix.
What does this mean?
Well, it's never a simple answer. We have to break down all the elements and look at where they sit to begin to understand this configuration.
To start. What is a Kite?
Astrologically speaking, a Kite is an aspect pattern that includes a grand trine (three planets in a 120-degree angle pattern, which places them in the same element.) and one planet in opposition with one of the trine planets. This puts the opposition planet in a sextile with the other two trine planets while opposing the third.
Have I lost you yet?
That’s okay. Pictures help.

In our case, we have Mars, Uranus, and Pluto (rx) all sitting in Air signs. Mars is in in Libra, Uranus is in Gemini, and Pluto (rx) is in Aquarius.
With me so far?
Great.
Now let’s look at the opposition
Saturn (rx) and Neptune (rx) are both in Aries. They are less than a degree apart, so we’re going to look at them as if they were conjoined. They are both in opposition to Mars in Libra. However, they are also in a sextile with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.
Sextiles and Trines are positive aspects. This means there are good collaborative connections being made. The easiest way to think of this is that all of these planets are communicating with each other.
Uranus and Pluto want to work with Saturn and Neptune. And Uranus and Pluto want to work with Mars in Libra.
But… Oppositions are conflicting connections.
That means Mars in Libra isn’t really willing to work with Saturn and Neptune right now. And Saturn and Neptune are in Mars’s house.
Starting to see the problem here?
It goes deeper, though
Mars is action, determination, and drive. It’s our “let’s do this” energy. Currently, Mars is in a disabled position when it is in Libra. Libra is Venus’s domain. Mars here has to play by Venus’s rules while he is in her house. And Libra is typically a sign that represents fair play, balance, and partnership. This is a very diplomatic side of Venus. While Mars is here, think of soldiers and their hierarchy. Mars wants to be the dashing knight running headlong into battle, or the special ops team on a mission. But when debilitated in Venus’s domain, Mars becomes more of a high-ranking general that’s bogged down by bureaucracy. This means there is a bit of a tactical disconnect for Mars. It may want to act, but it has to consider policy, resources, and planning before it can get anything done. Action here only comes when all the I’s are dotted and T’s crossed.
Now, with this grand trine, Mars is getting good communication from Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto (rx) in Aquarius is bringing an introspective quality to the ideas of how actions can create change.
Essentially, Mars knows what it wants, has the information it needs, and has considered the outcomes, but is being stalled by both its position in Libra, but it’s opposition to Saturn.
On the other end of this Kite
Saturn and Neptune are nearly conjoined. This blends some uneasy energies all on its own. Saturn is the planet of rules, time, consistency, and order. Neptune represents the idealism and dreams that separate us from reality. Both of these planets are retrograde, so they are turning their characteristics inward and asking us to understand them both together and individually, all while in the sign of action. It’s like being stuck in quicksand while dealing with analysis paralysis.
Saturn and Neptune too are getting communication from Uranus in Gemini and that deep introspective thought process of change that comes from Pluto (rx) in Aquarius, but because of all the retrograde energy, it is only adding to that feeling of being stuck.
So, now we might begin to see the real conflict happening in this Kite
The feelings of having all the information, but no room to act is being highlighted during this transit. We are being bombarded from both sides with information. We know what we want to do, but something is holding us back. And, frustrating as it probably feels (I know I am feeling it), we are being forced to sit with this.
Maybe for good reason.
Sometimes we do need to pause and really think things through
Sometimes, timing is key. We might have good ideas, but it isn’t the right time to act. Sometimes we want things to work out, but there is something missing we just can’t see (and may need to be spotted before everything falls into place). And from another perspective, biding your time and looking for the right moment to strike might just be the key to getting what you want in the end.
So, while this specific Kite energy is undoubtedly annoying and probably making you feel a little crazy, consider that it’s the universe telling you to hold on.
Roll with the punches for the rest of this week. We’re still in Mercury retrograde while this Kite is in play. Maybe, in a week or so, things will look different.
That said, we have the free will to act as we wish. The planets do not dictate our moves, they simply reveal the energetic patterns at play. That’s the beauty of astrology. It is a cosmic weather report that allows us to prepare for potential energetic storms on the horizon. But it is always our choice how we press forward.
